These photos bring my blood pressure down. Everything looks so peaceful. Love the stove. I am wondering why coming out from the water is dangerous for the little turtle... Maybe because he's supposed to be hibernating down in the bottom of the pond? I am beginning to think Turtle Paradise isn't such a turtle paradise! We have a lush and very fertile backyard visited by squirrels and scrub jays. This is a city so some of the squirrels smoke crack and the scrub jays listen to loud rap music. Our little oasis is about 25 x 25 feet large. It would be nice to live in the country and I respect what appears to be your very "old-school" sort of lifestyle. I'm a fan of the old British TV series, Victorian Farm, and its sequel, Edwardian Farm. Have you seen them? If not, I bet you would really enjoy.

Not familiar with the shows but I will check them out. Box turtles are land dwellers and hibernate under leaves or in holes they find. This one could freeze if it doesn't find shelter before it gets cold again. All the squirrels here smoke crack -- it's everywhere now even in rural areas.

I'm deeply disappointed by this news of the moral decline of rural squirrels... I feel less worried about the turtle now (as long as he avoids the degenerate squirrels). I thought he came out of hibernation too soon. Like the your turtle, I'm also a procrastinator, but still I get things done... eventually.

Beautiful photos, and that stove is a keeper. What’s the story behind it?

Not much story. Everyone thinks it's an antique but it's actually a fairly new stove, less than 20 years old. We got it from Lehman's, a huge store in Amish county that I call the Amish Walmart. Highly recommend visiting if you're ever in northeast Ohio.

I've purchased many times from Lehman's online. Our fermenting crock was a great deal!
